Tales from the Writer's Room: Part One
One of my favorite parts about writing for TV or film is the magical
process of seeing my words come to life. In reality, it was a very
talented props person named Ian, and not magic, that made the centrifuge
I wrote about on Thursday appear in the entryway of our building Monday
morning. But unless I end up winning Powerball, scriptwriting is
probably the closest I’ll ever come to that genie-in-a-bottle moment: your wish is my command. I hope I never become too world-weary to appreciate how special this feels.
So, I called this blog “Tales from the Writers Room,” but the truth is, I’m not actually spending much of my time in the writers’ room these days as I start to prep my first Bones episode. However, I do hope this kicks off my (sporadic) blog about the super awesome job of writing for a network television show. For the uninitiated, Bones is a drama that airs on Fox, 8pm Thursday nights.
So, I called this blog “Tales from the Writers Room,” but the truth is, I’m not actually spending much of my time in the writers’ room these days as I start to prep my first Bones episode. Question: I’m having a terrible day, but some Bones scoop can make it all better. Any more deets on the 200th episode (last week’s tease sounded awesome)? —Amelia
Ausiello: Yes! David Boreanaz is confirmed to direct the milestone outing, which is slated to air in early December. Also, Ep 200 will be overflowing with Bones alums. Pretty much everyone you’d want/expect to be back for the milestone outing will be present and accounted for. Except for Parker; he’ll most likely be MIA.

Ausiello: Responds EP Stephen Nathan: “They will definitely have seen each other. Although they won’t have touched each other. It will be three months later when we see them again. And they have been through a lot.” (Side note: Props to David Boreanaz for directing that spectacular, feature film-quality shootout at Booth and Brennan’s crib at the conclusion of the finale. I’m still catching my breath.)

Bones Boss Opens Up About Friday Move, Hodgins' Family Secret and… a New Couple!
Bones
is finally making the move to Fridays at 8/7c this week after years of
dodging the oft-stigmatized night. But executive producer Stephen Nathan isn’t fretting about the show’s new home.
“Thankfully, this has happened at a time when the days of the week really don’t mean all that much on television anymore,” said Nathan during a recent conference call. “So many people timeshift the show… We still have a large audience that watches us when we are on, but I’m not that concerned with Friday. I think all these loyal fans are going to come over to Friday.”...

Executive Producer Stephen Nathan, who dished about the show's next
serial killer called the Ghost Killer, discussed details about multiple
upcoming episodes, and revealed which team members, squinterns and guest
stars will be highlighted this season.
Tonight, Monday, November 11, at 8pm ET/PT FOX airs an all-new episode of BONES before moving the series to Fridays at 8pm later this week, when FOX airs another all-new episode of BONES on Friday, November 15, 2013 at 8pm ET/PT.
Question: Can you discuss what we're going to learn about Hodgins' past that we don't know?
Stephen Nathan: Well, that's going to be a little bit further down the line. That might not air until February. Very briefly, Hodgins finds out some things about his family -- and he had a very close family. They were very, very wealthy, but he did have a close family. He's going to find out some secrets about that family that are going to be quite surprising to him. It's not going to be grand political secrets or anything like that; it's going to be very, very personal.
