Bones Photos & Promo: Polygamy Comes to Bones!

The last episode of Bones was terrific, wasn't it? It set in place what I think will be a great story arc for Booth about his sniper history, even if it was one of the grossest episodes ever. A new episode of Bones will be airing on February 3 and it's going to be like an episode of Big Love, with a polygamist the victim of murder (well, Big Love in the sense of multiple wives, not the polygamist dying). Will the episode help Booth recognize his feelings for Brennan?

Ratings: Bones Hits Almost Four-Year High

The key to strong Bones? A tall, cold glass of American Idol.

With Week 2 of Idol (22.3 million viewers) retaining almost all of its debut week audience — meaning, a bigger chunk that last year — Bones scored its best demo rating (3.9) since February 14, 2007.

With its largest total audience in almost a year (12.15 million viewers) and the likes of Grey’s and CSI in repeat mode, Bones easily dominated the 9 o’clock hour.

"American Idol stood well above the competition, with a 14.2 rating/21 share in the 8 p.m. hour. Comparably, that bested year-ago occupant Bones (7.9/13 on Jan. 28, 2010) by 80 percent (and its advantage among adults 18-49 is expected to be greater). Relocated Bones followed American Idol with a dominant 7.9/12 in the 9 p.m. hour, but competing CSI on CBS (#2: 6.3/10) and Grey’s Anatomy on ABC (#4: 3.3/ 5) were both in repeats. Retention for Bones out of the 8:30 p.m. portion of Idol (15.0/22), meanwhile, was only 53 percent."

Transcript: DB and ED on Good Day New York

Temperatelogic put together a transcript of David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel being interviewed on Good Day New York by Julie Chang:

JULIE CHANG (Good Day New York): Our favorite smart yet socially-challenged forensic anthropologist and cocky yet charming special agent are back for a new episode of Bones tonight. Dr. Brennan and Agent Booth are back to solving crimes by identifying human remains that are often too far deteriorated for standard investigations. I recently caught up with the lead stars Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz to talk about what's ahead for the dynamic duo.

Usually there's this palpable sexual tension between you and David Boreanaz's character; and then just when we think it's going to go on a road we want it to go he gets a girlfriend! What is up with that?

EMILY DESCHANEL (Dr. Temperance Brennan, Bones): I don't know. Like I said, there's always new dynamics between the characters, and it kind of makes us explore each other, our relationship, in a different way.

DAVID BOREANAZ (Special Agent Seeley Booth, Bones: Where Booth is right now he has to--he's decided to move on and kind of try this out to see how it works out. But, I mean, ultimately it's not gonna work out.

CHANG: You can catch the new episode of Bones tonight at 9 right here on Fox 5; that's right after American Idol.

BONES: Emily Deschanel and Hart Hanson Preview the Sniper Arc

More than five months after BONES executive producer Stephen Nathan first teased that “one of our own will be a victim,” the long-awaited sniper arc kicks off with Thursday’s episode, “The Bullet in the Brain.”

The hour — directed by series star David Boreanaz — features the return of the Gravedigger and the introduction of Jacob Ripkin Broadsky (played by Arnold Vosloo), the sniper who will haunt Booth, Brennan and the rest of the Jeffersonian gang for multiple episodes.

While I did my best to get BONES creator Hart Hanson to hint how many victims the sniper will take out during his run on the show, Hanson declined to give a number....

Vote Now! Who Do You Think Will Get Sniped in "The Bullet in the Brain"?

It’s happening. “The Bullet in the Brain” is airing Thursday night, and we can’t wait. We’ve brainstormed who we think will be saucy Arnold Vosloo’s victim, but now we want to know what you think, Bones fans! You’ve already resoundingly agreed that Zack Addy is your favorite squintern, and since he’s not on the show anymore (tear!), we know he’s safe. There’s talk that it could it be the Gravedigger, but what about Hannah? We’re sure that would make a lot of you happy!

Executive producer Stephen Nathan recently said, "The beginning of that [episode] could possibly be our most shocking act that we've ever done on Bones. It really did sort of [put to] rest the Gravedigger plot out of Bones and replace it with another one equally compelling."

Will Hodgins Get Some Family After All?

Jack Hodgins is about to get a little more interesting. Sure, he's already brilliant, handsome, and loaded beyond belief, but Bones is poised to add a little depth to his mysterious, family-less past. Back in Season 1, Hodgins revealed that he's descended from those Hodgins, the super wealthy ones who happen to be the largest donors to the Jeffersonian — meaning he's technically the team's boss. Even crazier? He's also the last remaining Hodgins...

Ausiello Spoils: Elevator Scenes and Hannah/Booth Turning Point

Question: There seems to be some confusion about when the big “Booth/Brennan Elevator Episode” will air on Bones. Care to clear things up for us? —Nick
Ausiello:
It’s No. 6.16, it’s scheduled to air March 3, and according to EP Stephen Nathan, “It’s going to be gooooood.” (Last time Nathan used that many O’s… um… has he ever used that many O’s? I don’t believe he has.)

Question: When will Hannah leave Bones? Please say soon. —Lexie
Ausiello:
According to a little birdie whose name rhymes with Peevin Rathen, there will be a “very big” turning point for Booth and Hannah in the Feb. 10 episode; interpret that as you like. Coincidentally, that’s the same episode David Boreanaz delivers one of the best performances of his career, per that same little birdie.

Exclusive Bones Video: Meet 'Evil, Evil Booth'

This Thursday on Fox’s Bones, a new big bad will rise as one falls.

The January 27 episode of the Fox drama, titled “The Bullet In the Brain,” effectively wraps up the show’s recurring and ghoulish Gravedigger storyline. In doing so, it introduces a similar, sinister element — except whereas the Gravedigger was a horribly misguided version of Brennan, the new villain, a sniper, will exploit an expertise shared by Booth in a very bad way.

“He’s evil, evil Booth,” warns Bones creator Hart Hanson in this exclusive video preview below.

As Booth struggles with the fact that one of his “own” (played by The Mummy‘s Arnold Vosloo) has gone to the dark side, “We’ll see Booth in a way we’ve never seen him before,” says executive producer Stephen Nathan.

CLICK HERE TO GO TO TVLINE: Watch this first look at the “evil Booth” sniper storyline kicking off Thursday at 9/8c, and get a taste for how (literally) explosive it promises to be.

RESULTS ARE IN! THE 2011 READERS POLL: HOTTEST PRIME TIME TV HUNKS LIST!

Ask Matt - January 24

Question: This doesn't seem like the sort of question you usually tackle, but after watching last week's episode of Bones, I had a sudden realization: We've never met anyone from Hodgins' family! In fact, we don't really even know anything about his family members except that they are filthy rich and basically own the Jeffersonian. I am thinking that Hodgins is somewhat estranged from his family because they have different philosophies about life, but I could be making that up. Now that I've noticed this, it seems like a huge gaping hole! We've met family members for everyone else on the team (Brennan's father and brother, Booth's grandfather and brother, Angela's dad, Cam's sister.) Hodgins has had some fairly major events happen recently; you'd think getting married and expecting a child would be something his family would want to know about. Is there a particular reason that they aren't even mentioned? — Sarah

Matt Roush: Being something less than an encyclopedic reference on this topic, I went to the source, the show's creator/executive producer Hart Hanson, who responded back via Twitter: "We established early that Hodgins had no more nuclear family," and I'll take his word for it. "BUT," he adds enigmatically, "We have a storyline waiting for a particularly choice cast availability," so make of that what you will. Maybe there's more to Hodgins' backstory after all.

Michaela Conlin Makes No 'Bones' About It

Days before the premiere of season 6 on Fox, the ‘Bones’ actress was being fitted for a pregnancy suit and dishing about her character’s future.

After six seasons of working around prosthetic dead bodies on the show “Bones,” you could say actress Michaela Conlin has seen her share of gore.

Her character Angela Montenegro draws forensic facial reconstructions for the show’s fictional Jeffersonian Institution. With a team of experts, Montenegro helps dissect FBI case files typically involving human remains in various stages of decay.

BONES: Hart Hanson on Episode Shuffling and Teases Episode 10

So I believe a few of you are excited that BONES returns with a brand new episode tonight?

Yeah, that’s what I thought.

There is some really fun stuff coming up in 2011: the start of the sniper arc, some progress with a certain love triangle and much more.

When I chatted with BONES creator Hart Hanson at the recent Fox All-Star party, he talked about the complications of changing up the episode order, Booth being a good man and teased a little bit about the latest bit of drama between Brennan-Booth-Hannah…

Bones Preview: Will Hannah Learning the Truth Set Booth and Brennan Free?

Thursdays at 9/8c, after Idol – Brennan, rattled by a case that hit too close to home, put all her cards on the table by asking Booth if it was too late for them to take a chance at romance.

BONES: Emily Deschanel Previews the Latest Twist in the Brennan-Booth-Hannah Triangle

Last we saw Booth and Brennan on BONES, things were kind of tragic.

Brennan finally realized that she wanted more from her relationship with Booth — only to have him turn her down, since he’s with someone new.

The semi-good news? It certainly appears that things are about to blow up.

When BONES returns with a brand new episode on Thursday, the press release promises that “Booth opens up to Hannah about Brennan’s feelings for him.” Um, pretty sure those feelings aren’t one-sided, mister.

So will Booth tell Hannah the truth about his feelings for Brennan? I posed that very question to Emily Deschanel (Brennan)…
