Will Bones be a “drag”?

There is a rumor on Twitter that Bones will have another undercover episode, probably with Tony and Roxy. Is it true? —@Katiarabreu
It’s false, actually. Having said that, exec producer Stephen Nathan reveals that Booth and Brennan “will be going someplace they have never been before — the world of female impersonators.” But as the boss man stresses, “It’s not an undercover episode,” so don’t expect to see David Boreanaz donning a wig and fishnets.

TV Line: February 4, Christine's Birthday

Question: We haven’t laid eyes on Christine since Bones’ Honeymoon episode… any idea when she will be seen again? —Kelley H.
Ausiello: The disappearing daughter returns in this season’s 16th episode — slated to air in the spring — just in time to blow out her birthday candles. On the topic of Christine’s age, exec producer Stephen Nathan pleads, “Before viewers start to do the math to determine her exact age and yell at us, please remember the Bones world is not linear and does not proceed week to week as the show does. Trying to determine specific dates and times is a fool’s errand in a fictional world. That said, enjoy the party! Booth and Brennan do.”

Any additional intel regarding how this season’s Bones cliffhanger will “change the landscape of the show”? It has me a little worried. —Jennifer
Relax. It’s going to be OK. EP Stephen Nathan went on to tell Ausiello that the potentially premise-altering twist does not pertain to Booth and Brennan’s personal life. “They’re not getting divorced or anything,” he assured. “We’re not going through nine seasons and then send them on the road to ruin. That’s not going to happen. They could be on a road to ruin but it’s not a personal ruin. They’re fine.”

Bones Exclusive: Season 9 Ends on a Cliffhanger – Is Season 10 a Foregone Conclusion?

Spoiler Chat: Scoop on Bones

Anna Beth: I'm loving all this Bones scoop y'all keep dishing out! Got any more?
For you? Of course! We all know that Dr. Brennan is truly one of a kind, but be prepared to meet her personality doppelganger later this season! (In episode eight to be exact.) Agatha Blume is the food science's version of our beloved Brannan, she's intelligent, pretty, and looks at everyday life from an extremely logical and emotionless point of view. We think she and Brennan could be besties! Well, if you forget about the tiny detail that Agatha is being suspected for murder…

Keck's Exclusives: Bones Scoop, May 13

Are we going to have to wait until Bones' series finale for the wedding of Brennan [Emily Deschanel] and Booth [David Boreanaz]? — Gillian, Plano, Texas
That's long been the assumption, but executive producer Stephen Nathan says, "If we lived in a predictable universe, that's exactly what would happen. But we're not a predictable show." Though stopping short of confirming that the "I do"s will be exchanged next year, Nathan does say that "there will be one huge event" that brings the whole Bones family together. "And I mean the whole family — including Brennan's father, Max, and Booth's mother, brother, son and grandfather." That sure sounds like a save-the-date to me.

E Online Spoiler Chat: April 9

Annie: Any Bones goodies to share?
Brennan is getting a new foe! Sandra Gibson is the successful author of a medical-mystery series of novels who isn't pleased when fellow author/competitor Brennan disses her work. Naturally, she decides to start a feud in order to bolster sales of her book and does so by appearing on a PBS-esque talk show. Rawr!

Ask Ausiello: April 9

Question: I know you’ve probably teased everything you could about it, but anything else on the Bones‘ season finale? With the exception of Sunday’s big scene, they have been pretty quiet as of late. —Rachel
Ausiello: Pelant’s possible accomplice has been identified: Beau Knapp (Super 8) has been cast in the April 29 finale as Zane Reynolds, a menacing member of a religious cult whose family members were killed by FBI agents ten years ago. Booth believes that Zane, armed to the teeth, is taking orders from Pelant and might be targeting Booth & Co. In other Bones news, stop what you’re doing and watch this. Inside TV Spoilers: February 5

BONES ENTERS THE WORLD OF SURVIVALISTS
Monday’s episode of Bones is going to find Brennan near-death and having visions of her dead mother. Heavy? You bet. Thankfully, Emily Deschanel reports that despite an upcoming string of fairly drama-heavy episode, they’re currently about to start work on one that’s pretty much the opposite. “The next one we’re going to do is about survivalists, people thinking the end of the world is coming and living in a bunker,” she says. “They’re all kind of incestual and sleeping with each other. So that’s kind of quirky and fun.” And dirty. “They’re all passing syphilis to each other,” Deschanel says with a laugh.
But her show’s ability to weave the dark and light waters of television so effortlessly over the past 8 seasons is something the actress says has been a gift. “There’s always a light touch to the show, which I think is unique in television. It’s a breath of fresh air, and it’s good for us to do when we deal with death all the time,” she says, adding that Brennan’s ability to be the source of humor is also an unexpected but welcomed aspect to the character. “What she thinks is hilarious is not necessarily hilarious to other people. So that’s fun to play for sure.”
Note: Check out a First Look photo from Brennan’s upcoming near-death experience here. And watch InsideTV for more from our chat with Deschanel soon.

BONES Writer Michael Peterson on Bringing Neurofibromatosis Awareness Mainstream in ‘The Doll in the Derby’

While a lot of focus on this Monday’s brand new episode of BONES has landed on the flashy roller derby element of the hour, there’s something else of note going on as well: for the first time in the show’s eight seasons, the series will shed light on the genetic disorder neurofibromatosis.
And while how neurofibromatosis ties directly into the episode is spoilery (I’ll have more for you about that post-airing in order to not ruin the hour), I spoke with BONES writer Michael Peterson (who penned Monday’s episode, “The Doll in the Derby”) about his personal connection to the disease, deciding to finally write it into an episode, and got a few “The Doll in the Derby” teases…

Mega Buzz: January 29

Got any scoop on Booth from Bones? — Whitney
ADAM:
When I asked David Boreanaz about the nagging mystery of Booth's big secret — you know, the one between him and God — I was a bit surprised by the answer. "Booth communicates to God in a very painful way," Boreanaz says. "He was a soldier. One of the things we don't really realize is he wakes up every morning in pain, and we haven't really examined that." So will he let his teammates — and more importantly, Brennan — in on the secret? "He has a pretty good cloak with the belt buckle and the socks — he hides behind a lot of that," Boreanaz says. "[Booth's shrink] Stephen Fry exposed a bit of that, and maybe now he needs to expose that to Brennan and see where that takes them."

Question: Did we ever find out what Pelant did to Booth and Brennan’s alarm clock on Bones? Or did I just blink and miss it? —Laura
Ausiello: You definitely did not blink and miss it, since the episode that solves that little mystery hasn’t aired yet. Nor has it been shot. Or written. And that’s because the episode I’m referring to is the Season 8 finale! And while we’re on the subject of major developments coming up in the finale, exec producer Stephen Nathan promises that viewers will get “one more surprising piece of the Brennan/Booth marriage dilemma.” What are you waiting for Internet? React!

Ask Ausiello: January 22

Question: Can you finally rule out Booth and Brennan on Bones as the couple behind your Blind Item — despite what David Boreanaz just told you guys? —Michelle
Ausiello: Not commenting on the Blind Item. But when we presented Emily Deschanel with her costar’s curious quotes, it took her a moment, but then she got on track with what he had said.Ohhhhh. Yeah, we definitely have an episode where we’re at odds with each other,” she confirmed. As colleagues or as a couple? “Personally,” she clarified, “but then it trickles into the professional. It’s complicated!” Deschanel also elaborated on the springtime time travel episode teased in Inside Line. “[The victim] attempted to travel through time, and we’re wondering if that’s how he died,” she said. “And then we find another body and wonder if that’s actually him from the future, coming back. It opens a whole big discussion!”

Can you give us any more details on Brennan's near-death experience on Bones? — Destiny
ADAM:
"I am shot and I die," Emily Deschanel deadpans.  Fortunately, she continues, while Brennan is trapped between planes, she reunites (and has a heart-to-heart) with her long-dead mother, which could change Brennan's view of the world completely. "She has some big words of advice for me," Deschanel says. "You discover where Brennan's hyper-rational perspective came from, and ... her mother shatters it a bit. No one changes over night, but that does change Brennan and really seeps into her life."

Matt's Inside Line: January 10th

Bones | Before you start seeking Season 9 scoop, know there’s plenty of fun stuff still on tap for this winter/spring. For one, Emily Deschanel told me, there’s an episode in which Brennan uncovers the remains of a caveman – but don’t you dare call it a “caveman” in her presence. There’s also a case that deals with time travel (?). But the episode Deschanel described as emotionally “sweet” is the one where Bones meets her maker — and/or meets her maker — in “The Shot in the Dark,” airing mid-February. “Brennan gets shot, and she either hallucinates and sees her [late] mother, or she goes to Heaven and has an encounter with her mother (played by Brooke Langston), but she doesn’t believe it.” What do the women talk about after so much time “apart”? “There are emotions as we discuss things [including] what my life is like now, the baby,” Deschanel shared. “It’s really sweet.”
