April Fool's from Fox

Hollywood, CA - Fox was uncharacteristically candid this week about the next episode of Bones in one FBI agent Seeley Booth's (David Boreanaz) many harrowing days. In an interview with Variety, producer Stephen Nathan revealed the next episode of Bones, would mostly focus on Booth eating a sandwich.

"Many fans remarked how Booth never seems to have time to eat a decent meal with always grabbing something from the vending machine," said Nathan. "Since this episode is the proverbial deep breath before the big season finale plunge, we decided Booth needed some nourishment."

While Nathan declined to get specific, he did share a few moments from the episode. As Brennan searches frantically for Booth and tries to decide to make a proposition to Booth, Booth's SUV power-slides into an In-N-Out Burger in Van Nuys. He jumps out, dashes inside and hurriedly orders a Double-Double with no pickles, apple pie and a Dr. Pepper.

Naturally, the order goes horribly wrong.

The barely sentient cashier fails to enter Booth's order correctly, so the sandwich arrives with pickles anyway. He then tells Jack that the Dr. Pepper spout is broken. "Listen to me," Booth says, grabbing the cashier by the shirt. "I need you to take the pickles off now. There's no time to explain – you're going to have to trust me."

Booth is then forced to choose between Coca-Cola and root beer while the cashier ponders a solution to the pickle crisis.

The balance of the episode is a series of intercuts between the chaos of Angela trying to follow her vow of celibacy at the Jeffersonian and Booth as he eats his sandwich, reads the paper and visits the rest room. As for what Booth does about the soda situation, Nathan said, "Booth's a resourceful guy – he'll think of something."

These guys have a sick sense of humor. Hey, Fox. Nice try!

Global Airs Bones Tomorrow

The Doctor in the Den airs tomorrow Wednesday April 1 in Canada (Global). I've heard that it airs at 9pm EDT (and 9pm PDT for the Western provinces). I'm not from Canada, so I'm not sure if that was a typo or if I just originally read the times wrong. Any ideas? (I heard 8 ET/PT). Someone fill me in. I'm at a loss... and need a nap... But yay for the early viewing!
Just make sure if you're American, if you watch the sneak-preview, then put on Bones for at least background noise when it airs on Fox so we don't kill the ratings. Of course, if you're like me, you won't be able to help yourself. (I'm weak!)

Brenden Fehr Talks About Bones

I finished the Bones (ep. 18 I think) and had a great time. Oh really? Wow! How unusual! I don't believe it! You've got to be kidding! Wouldn't have thought! I know, I know, it's not exactly juicy stuff but what do want from me? LIES?! Slight exaggerations?! On set gossip? I'll think of stuff and get back to you. Until then we shot all my stuff in one day, 'bout 4 or maybe 5 scenes. I had good/fun stuff to work with being Jared and dealing with my "big brother" and that particular dynamic. I don't know the air date and will tune into you guys to find out. I've been told that tentatively I will be in the season finale and only a little of what it's about. I was also privy to a tiny piece of info as to what "uniform" Jared will be wearing. There's a bet to be made - What occupation will Jared hold in the season finale? It could change obviously since during the conversation with Hart he was still working on things but he did tell me he had me holding some sort of job/position/career in the finale. In what capacity and for what reasons I don't know and like I said given the nature of what the finale is about, as told to me however briefly, I'm not sure how it all comes together or anything specific but the whole thing sounded really interesting and exciting for Bones Fans.

Brenden is talking about Beaver in the Otter, which as far as we all know, has been bumped to Season 5 (autumn).

Ausiello Spoils Bones: Interns & Cinderella

Question: There appears to be agreement amongst most Bones fans that the ridiculously adorable Wendell must be crowned Brennan's permanent grad student. (I mean, come on! The guy geeks out with Brennan and the Squint Squad and he’s Booth’s hockey buddy? How can you say no to that?) Any idea as to when we'll see the end of rotating-intern-palooza? --Olivia
Ausiello: Maybe never. "As of now we're going to continue to rotate them," says exec producer Shane Brennan. "We were looking back at all the interns we used this season and trying to figure out who would work out best and we can't make a decision. We love them all. And I think [the variety] has really helped the show a lot, because fans have their favorite, so people tune in to find out who's going to be on that week. Also, we've been extremely lucky with the actors we've cast. Everybody our casting director Rick Milligan has brought in could easily be a regular on our show, and that's a very rare thing to find. It seems like we have a permanent cast of players now."

Question: Bones scoop? --Stephen
Ausiello: "Sweets and his girlfriend wind up in bed with Booth and Brennan," reveals e.p. Shane Brennan. Okay, he's kidding, but an upcoming episode will find the quartet in an awkward situation. "Booth and Brennan think Sweets' girlfriend is getting married to somebody else and hasn't told him," says Brennan. "It's a bit of a Bridezilla episode that takes a look inside the wedding industry."

Stewie Griffin Offers Booth Some Sage Advice on Bones, Thursday, May 7th, on FOX.

Stewie Griffin Offers Booth Some Sage Advice on Bones, Thursday, May 7th, on FOX.

HOT FROM FOX...

STEWIE GRIFFIN OFFERS BOOTH SOME SAGE ADVICE ON "BONES" THURSDAY, MAY 7, ON FOX

Stewie Griffin, the youngest member of the FAMILY GUY clan, makes a very unique appearance on BONES Thursday, May 7 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

In "The Critic in the Cabernet" episode, Brennan (Emily Deschanel) decides she wants to have a baby and surprises Booth (David Boreanaz) with a request to father her child. Brennan's request dredges up a host of unspoken feelings and unresolved issues between the two, and Booth becomes consumed by the prospect of having a child. The stress of the situation, coupled with Booth's undiagnosed health issue, paves the way for a surprise visit from Stewie. The diabolically clever baby assesses the situation and offers advice in his inimitable style.

After returning from the BONES set, Griffin remarked on the experience of playing his first dramatic role: "Oh, have you seen it? Was I good? Because I heard they said I was amazing and they want me to replace Emily, but that's just a rumor."

"The guy was good during the actual scenes, which is the important thing," Boreanaz commented. "But between takes he literally vanished nowhere to be seen. I guess it's true that Brits and cartoons tend to be standoff-ish. Or maybe it was a method thing, I don't know."

In its new Thursday time period, BONES ranks No. 1 among Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers. The series is up over its average for the comparable period last year among key demos and improves over FOX's prior delivery in the Thursday 8:00 PM hour by dramatic margins among Adults 18-49 (+43%), Adults 18-34 (+20%) and Total Viewers (+74%).

BONES is from Far Field Productions and Josephson Entertainment in association with 20th Century Fox Television. Hart Hanson, Barry Josephson and Stephen Nathan are executive producers.

Fox Orders 6 Bones Scripts 09-10 Season

(Not really a spoiler, but definitely good news.)

Fox is moving closer to picking up another batch of “Bones.”

The network just ordered six scripts of the 20th Century Fox TV crime drama, with an eye to using the episodes during the 2009-10 season. While not an official renewal, the script order is a good sign that the network plans to greenlight “Bones” for a fifth season later this spring.

“Bones” has long been one of Fox’s best utility players. The network has aired the show in five different timeslots since its 2005 debut, and it’s always managed to draw an audience.

The series has proven to be a particularly potent weapon for Fox this year, helping the network establish a solid presence on Thursday nights. Since relocating to Thursdays in January, “Bones” has boosted Fox’s season-to-date average in the 8 p.m. timeslot by 43% in adults 18 to 49 and by a whopping 74% in overall viewers.

More impressively, “Bones” has scored victories against ABC’s “Ugly Betty” and NBC’s comedies.

The fans have spoken: Looks like FOX will push 'Bones' ep to fall, but not the finale

So, it looks like Booth and Brennan will get their bedroom time this spring after all. No doubt they have their vocal fans to thank for it.

As I reported last Thursday, because of President Obama's prime time address tomorrow night, "Bones" is in danger of losing a whole hour of its season to accommodate "American Idol"'s schedule. And as of late last week, FOX's tentative plan was to push "Bones"' season finale -- which includes the long awaited Booth and Brennan hook up -- to fall.

However, it seems the tentative plan has been tweaked.

Though FOX is not commenting on "Bones"' schedule, insiders tell me that a revised version of their spring lineup was released earlier today and though "Bones" will indeed lose an episode this season, the finale hour is no longer the one marked for postponement. Instead, they've axed ep 4.18 "Beaver in the Otter" (otherwise known on fan sites as ep 4.24, episode numbers are wonky this season due to several year 3 episodes being pushed last spring).

Perhaps the network peeped some of the fans' helpful suggestions and decided to take their feelings into account.

Of course all schedules are subject to change, but I will monitor the situation and keep you updated.

Assuming the current plan stands, are you satisfied? Or are you pissed that you're still probably losing an hour of "Bones" this season?

Finale Fatality

So, apparently Booth and Bones may not hook up in this year's season finale after all. Whaa--? Why? Ask President Obama. I just found out our fearless leader is kind of a c-ck block.

Because of Obama's press conference next Tuesday, a few prime time scheduling tweaks must be made, and the "Bones" finale could end up being a casualty. Though FOX has not yet made a definite decision, word is, the romantic crime drama will lose an hour to "American Idol" since "Idol" obviously can't just cut an episode (I mean, as far as I'm concerned, they could actually reduce every single ridiculous results show to eight solid minutes... but you know what I'm saying).

This plan, which FOX is dead seriously considering right now, would push the much talked about "Bones" finale -- the episode in which we've been promised some no nonsense B&B bedroom action -- back to the start of next season.

So, thoughts? If this is something you hard core "Bones" fans can't possibly accept, you better start commenting, because FOX is apparently going to make a final ruling on this any time now...

Baby Stewie?

Suddenly, the cancer-induced ghost sex Izzie was partaking in on Grey's Anatomy isn't looking so preposterous.

As I previously reported, David Boreanaz' Bones alter ego will suffer a life-threatening health crisis this May that will cause him to hallucinate. Well, I can finally reveal the destination of his head trip: Quahog, Rhode Island. Put another way, Booth is getting a visit from Family Guy's acid-tongued baby villain, Stewie!

No joke!

"This is going to sound odd, but it is a completely believable event given [Booth's condition]," maintains executive producer Stephen Nathan, who declined to reveal the mystery ailment causing his visions. "It's not just a fantasy of ours. There's medical research to back up what's going on with Booth. There are conditions where you can see cartoon characters."

But don't expect to see Emily Deschanel's Brennan sparring with the evil tot: The cartoon cameo will be limited to Boreanaz. "We were never going to have Stewie just walk into the lab and start talking to everybody -- that would be a bald and shameless crossover," Nathan adds with a laugh. "It was always conceived to be a realistic hallucination... one that would lead us to what we wanted to do with Booth and Brennan."

In case you've been living under a rock without Wi-Fi, what they want to do is get the two detectives in bed having sex in the May 14 season finale -- an event Nathan assures me will "not be a hallucination." But first, Brennan will ask Booth to father her child on May 7, a request that leads to Stewie's first of two appearances. "Stewie will be in the sperm donation room with Booth," explains Nathan, who says Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane will sign off on all of Stewie's dialogue. "Whatever Seth wants to do is fine. As far as I'm concerned Stewie can sing!"

What do you think? Is this crossover too silly even for Bones? Or do you have faith that the ends (Booth's diagnosis on May 7) will justify the means (Stewie!) Sound off below!

Ausiello Spoilers on Finale

Question: What's the latest on Zack returning to Bones? --Will

Ausiello: The latest is he's probably definitely most likely going to be in the finale on May 14. And he won't be the only Bones alum appearing in the ep. "The finale is pretty much going to have everyone who has ever been on the show," reveals exec producer Stephen Nathan, who says Patricia Belcher (Caroline) and Ryan O'Neal (Max) are among the MVPs slated to join Eric Millegan (Zack). "It's going to be an interesting last episode of the season. Very different for us, but it should make sense in the context of the season.

"Kate O'Hare's Hot Cuppa TV: He Knows 'Bones': Executive Producer Hart Hanson speaks"

He Knows 'Bones': Executive Producer Hart Hanson speaks"

After failing to realize early dreams of being either a heavy-metal guitar god or a physicist, writer/producer
Hart Hanson decided to take up writing, and many years later, "Bones" fans are happy he did.Currently in its fourth season, "Bones," which airs Thursdays on Fox, stars David Boreanaz as FBI Agent Seeley Booth, a man of action who finds himself partnered with cerebral forensic anthropologist -- and successful mystery author -- Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel).
He does people; she does bones; together -- with the help of Brennan's team of scientific "Squints" back at the lab at the fictional Jeffersonian Institution -- they solve crimes.
Their partnership is platonic, but is there sexual tension? Please, this is TV. Hanson took a few minutes off from working on the season finale script to answer a few questions from yours truly:

Q: We hear that the big consummation moment for Booth and Brennan is coming in the season finale, and perhaps reproduction. I could see Brennan being clinical about it, but Booth? What was your thinking leading up to this?

A: Well, that's totally and completely the story engine driving this entire moment. Brennan is clinical, and Booth is anything but clinical. Merry mix-ups ensue.

But if I tell you the thinking that led to it, I might as well tell you the story, which means I'd be smarter to wait and have you watch it on television.

Can I tell you we thought about it a lot and a lot? That we had buckets and buckets of network and studio input and, despite that, we still got to a story that worked for us?

The general idea is an adage that TV writers and producers ignore at their peril: Give the audience what they expect, in a way they don't expect it.

Q: For such a bright woman, Brennan doesn't seem to be evolving much in her social skills. It is a source of comedy, but will she ever get significantly better?

A: What, you want to end the series? If you do, just say so.

Q: Is there an undercover scenario for Bones and Booth in the back of your mind that's still waiting for the right plot?

A: There are about six. "The World's Strongest Man" competition. Everybody here (but me) is fascinated by reality cooking and fashion shows, so when I die or move on, they can do that. Same with musicals. We want to go to an architectural dig and onto an Indian reservation...

Q: Might romance ever flare up again among the Squints?

A: Definitely. And perhaps even lust.

Q: How has your philosophy of the show changed over four seasons -- or has it?

A: It has not, alas. Find the balance between cases and personal stories, character and humor, and stay interested. The question is, are we successful at it enough of the time to keep our loyal audience?

Q: Will the economic downturn have an effect in the future on the budget at the Jeffersonian?

A: Definitely. I don't know how yet.

Q: Will Angela's dad (played by Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top) reappear?

A: Definitely.

Q: Are there other celebrities who'd like to be on the show, just waiting for the right script?

A: Yes, we've actually gotten to the point where people are asking to be on the show, who love the show and think it would be cool to come aboard. Perhaps because of Billy Gibbons, these include a number of rock stars. We will find ways to use the ones we like and dodge the ones we don't.

Q: How'd you manage to get the peripatetic Stephen Fry -- a prolific Twitterer and blogger -- to stand still long enough to do another "Bones"? What's he doing, and when should that air?

A: Stephen Fry loves doing "Bones." We found his availability months ago, within a four-day window, and confirmed with him that he'd be in the episode then. At that time, we had no idea what the story would be, but we knew it would be intermingled with a Sweets story. He did not disappoint.

He remains one of our favourite ([sic] Hart's from Canada.) recurring guest stars, and we (and he) hope to see more of him in the future. The episode he shot for us is called "Mayhem on the Cross" and should air in April. (HCTV: Perhaps April 2) All of England is on alert.

Q: Now that your dad has been on the show -- he played the cranky vending-machine man in last Thursday's episode, from whom Booth (Boreanaz also directed the episode) snatched a free snack -- are there any other Hansons out there that we might see soon?

A: No more Hansons. Dad was enough, thank you, and he's old and fairly easy to handle compared to the rest.

Q: Without giving away the farm, what's up in the season finale?

A: Sorry, if I give you a hint (and I know you), you'll guess the whole thing. Tune in.
Thanks, Hart. Now get back to work.

Korbi Spoiler on Jared & Booth

Anything on "Bones"? It's been a while. -Fahim

Look for the return of Booth's brother Jared (Brendan Fehr) this spring. Seems the elder Booth is trying to secure a job for his baby brother, who lost his previous position when he helped save Seeley from the Gravedigger. I'm told the two siblings will get into a huge fight and some damaging words will be exchanged.

Thanks to Jenny for pointing it out to me! :D

The Bones that Foam Airs Tonight in USA

Fox airs The Bones that Foam tonight. The times may vary, so check your local listings. TV.com is easiest and quite handy. ;) Enjoy the show! I get to restart the countdown! Yay! 7 Days Until The Salt in the Wounds!

If you've already watched it online, it's probably a good idea to watch it again tonight, even if it's background sound (although I'll be glued to it to catch things I didn't catch before) so that the ratings aren't effected by our impatience!

David Boreanaz answers your 'Bones' questions (or has a good time skirting them)

If you think Seeley Booth, David Boreanaz's character on Bones, has been goofy this season, you should sit down with the actor after he's been doing press all day and be his last interview -- which we were yesterday. We had more than 200 reader questions submitted for Boreanaz, who also directs tonight's episode, "The Bones That Foam" (Fox, 8 p.m. ET). Of course, he didn't have time to answer all of them. But we got in as many as we could before we had to part ways. (NOTE: If you want an actor to give you spoilers on his show, which many of you did, you need him to be drinking something stronger than a Sprite. Sorry!)

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: First of all, it's so funny that you just let it slip that you and your wife are expecting a second child on Regis & Kelly, because we had a number of readers ask if you hoped to add to your family [which includes six-year-old son Jaden]. N2SEELEYBOOTH went as far as to say that you need a daughter.
DAVID BOREANAZ: It's exciting. I think it's probably gonna be a girl. Girl energy. I'm done. [Laughs] It's all over. We'll know soon.

When is the baby due?
Well, the stork will be flying in a northeasterly direction somewhere in September area.

Is that for Jaden? Does he think there's a stork coming?
Jaden knows how it happens. I'm the one who's like, "Here comes the stork!"

This is one of my favorite questions: GLAD DALLAS IS T.O. FREE says, "David, the episode of Angel where you stepped behind the camera to direct involved scenes in a strip club. This episode heads in that direction as well. Coincidence, or directorial input?"
That was total coincidence. I got nothing more to say on that matter. I'm not gettin' in trouble. Next question. [Laughs]

I got to see a rough cut of the episode. How many takes for the lap dance?
You know what, the lap dance, how many takes did we do?... I don't remember. [Laughs] I gotta get off the stripper questions.

I find it hard to believe that you wouldn't remember a scene with Strawberry Lust. Or, "Miss Lust" as Booth calls her.
Was that her name? [Laughs] Next.

Fine. Why direct this episode? Did you have a pick?
I had no pick. I said to [creator Hart Hanson] "Just put me in the loop, and see what happens." It just came up.

But it has cars in it, which I know you're into.
Of course, it did. And a monkey. I suggested the monkey because two months later a woman got her eyes ripped off by a chimp. Now, I would wear a goalie mask while directing the monkey.

Did you really suggest the monkey though?
No.

LUC and RAVENU say that your buddy Christian Kane, now starring on TNT's Leverage, has said in interviews that he'd love for you to helm an episode of that show. Will it happen?
There's a possibility of that. It's up to the Leverage people. I may be out on that, I don't know. They haven't gotten back to me.

What would you like to direct next?
I'd like to do an independent film. But I'd enjoy anything. A cool action piece with a $200 million budget would be awesome. Cast myself and Johnny Depp as rivals. [Laughs]

Not that you've spent a lot of time thinking about it.
No, none whatsoever. Definitely something that's fast and furious.

Part V.
Part XIX. That's like when I did The Crow. Crow IX. I don't know which one it was, but I was the antichrist. I got married by Dennis Hopper to Tara Reid -- enough said. [We both laugh.] It's good that we can laugh about these things.

Of course, everyone is talking about the Booth-Brennan sex scene that Hart has promised us by the end of the season. ARELI wants to know how you'd direct it, if given the chance.
It depends on how it's written. Really, for me, the stuff that's in the foreground and the background has a lot to do with it. The environment would have to be pretty sultry. Streetcar comes to mind for some reason. Just really punctuate the setting and the environment not the act -- because the act is what it is. "A nice dolly track down her shoulder and legs" -- no.

Have you seen a script for the scene?
No, I haven't seen a script. I know the concept.

What can you tell us?
There's gonna be a lot of decisions on Booth's part leading up to that.... But it will be done very smart.

Obviously, a lot of fans want Booth and Bones together but are worried that it will mark the beginning of the end of the show. MARIEL wants to know what you're telling the writers -- how do you keep it from becoming a post-coital Moonlighting flop?
All right, let me just say one thing straight. [Leans in to speak directly into tape recorder.] Don't worry about it. When it does actually happen, it's not gonna be this post-Moonlighting thing. The show's not gonna go bad. The relationship's not gonna be messed up. You will enjoy it. And you will understand it. And I guarantee you it's not gonna mess anything up. Slow down. Step away from the ledge, people. People on the Internet, step away from your computer keyboards right now. Go get a Nestle Quik drink. Strawberry preferably. Mix it up. Relax. Comfort food for all. [Laughs]

This is also a serious question.
Serious? I don't do serious. Okay, I'm being serious. Seriously. Let's be serious.... Seriously.

Multiple knitters from www.ravelry.com would like to know if you ever received the package of socks that they made for you. They say they called your agent and got your shoe size.
Knitted socks? I got them. They're hand puppets for Jaden now. I really don't know! I've gotten socks a lot so I'm sure I got them. But thank you, that's very kind of you.... That's crazy questions. [Laughs]

I had to ask. It meant a lot to them.
I know. I did get some socks. I thank you because I like socks. I'm a sock guy.

This is actually a serious question.
Oh, another serious question. Seriously serious.

It's about the direction of the show. As SHERRY notes, it seems like Booth's been exploring his silly side this season and that Sweets has taken over much of the psychological function Booth provided in the interrogation room. What's the theory behind us seeing this goofier Booth and not necessarily the master interrogator from earlier seasons?
This season has really been character-driven, more so than the past, because they finally figured out what I was telling them from the beginning, that you should really have the characters drive it. It's been about character and the development of relationship, which I think is a lot better. I mean, who wants to see Booth go in and scream and holler and get all pissy with some guy? Maybe that will happen in a few episodes to come, there's a scene that we're shooting now where he'll get pretty intense in the interrogation room, but he uses his wits and instincts in a smarter way. I remember the first season, I'd just get all hyped up and throw people around.

I've been thinking about this since I saw the Castle premiere. Did you watch that?
The show that's ripping us off?

I knew you were gonna go there.
Why not? People like to imitate greatness. [Laughs] Which is fine. You can do that.

But that premiere was very character-driven, to the point that it felt like they were beating you over the head. He's unpredictable, he eats whipped cream out of the can -- we get it. But it was okay because that's what they're setting the show up as. Whereas with Bones, there was more of a balance of character and procedure for three seasons so I created my own image of Booth. Then all of the sudden, I'm seeing him wear a beer helmet in his bath tub, and I'm like, my Booth doesn't wear a beer helmet. Obviously, he's your Booth and you can do with him what you want. But there's gonna be that reaction -- my Booth doesn't do that.... Whose idea was the beer helmet?
[Laughs] It was written. I don't f---in' know.... Castle, that's out. Give me a break. Are you kidding me? [Laughs]

You are so bad.
Although Nathan's great on it. He's a good guy, he's a friend of mine. But come on, ABC, you're trying to rip us off. I think they're just upset that we smashed Ugly Betty on Thursday nights. They're upset about that. Bring it. [Laughs] All right, let's go on. I'm gettin' in trouble.

ALIA asks another question I'd like to know the answer to: "What's the deal with Teddy Parker in 'Hero in the Hold'? Was he an actual ghost? A drug- or panic-induced hallucination? Or perhaps a symptom of [Booth's upcoming] 'major heath crisis'?"
Maybe. Possibly. I think definitely a hallucination, a ghost, someone from his past that is communicating to him. And will that person communicate again to him? I hope so. I liked the actor a lot and the character was cool. I think that that will be one that may revisit me.

Okay, so why did Bones see him at the cemetery, too?
You'd have to ask Hart about it. Good question. I don't know.

How do you not know???
What do you mean, how do I not know? I don't know.

You really don't know?
You'd have to ask Hart about it. I really don't know.

Speaking of that Grave Digger episode. Were you happy with how it turned out? If I can... [Laughs]
Please.

You know I love the show. But like some fans, including ANNMARIE, I thought that Gormogon and the Grave Digger were really interesting villains that were wrapped up too quickly.
[In mystery accent] Ah, but the Grave Digger may escape. She may come back.

Really?!
[In mystery accent] Yes. So don't close the door on that one so soon.

How many seasons do you see Bones going?
I think the show will continue to go as long as the characters will grow. I don't look down the line, I really don't. Never have.

Will we get to meet Booth's father this season?
We haven't gone down that road. We only have six more episodes to shoot this season, and I'm thinking, Well, when are we gonna do that? So, I don't know if that's been put on hold. I have to talk to Hart about that. Maybe after this next script that we're shooting, which is all, like Japanese. [Laughs] Japanese FBI comes over and I'm looking for [pronounces two Japanese names...or tries to].

Sounds like it will be good for the blooper reel.
It's all blooped up.

Anyone you'd want to see cast as your family? You mentioned before to me that you used to get into bars when you were in college by telling bouncers that you were Ted Danson's son. He's on Damages, which is on FX. All in the Fox family.
Oh yeah, that would be funny, huh? I love Damages. I want to do a part on Damages next season....

Bones and Booth in Season Five: Maybe Baby?

Yes, the much-discussed sex scene between Temperance "Bones" Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) is going to happen in the Bones season-four finale. No, it is not a hallucination. And yes, oh yes, it could lead to something even bigger for the couple.

We just chatted up Bones bosses Hart Hanson and Stephen Nathan, and as S.N. jokes, "We did some research and found out that sex is very closely related to having children. We were shocked ourselves."

So what does the sex mean for our fave twosome, and which beloved character is returning for the season finale? Here's what we know:

You longtime fans will be delighted to know that the writer-producers of Bones are taking this step forward seriously. As Hart says, "I think the audience will be very satisfied with the sex scene, and [the way] that it sets up the next season and the way things unfold between [Bones and Booth]."

So why the change of Hart after years of putting the kibosh on B&B? He tells us, "The fact is, when we started Bones, we knew that we would never have to face the day of reckoning of when to have Booth and Brennan consummate their affair, because no show ever goes that long. And now here we are. We have to pay the piper. I think it was about six months ago that Stephen and I just quietly between the two of us started talking about how we were going to contend with that huge, hanging sword of Damocles issue of their sex life."

And for the record, the baby issue is key to the decision, at least on Brennan's side. Stephen explains, "It started with the idea of Brennan—who has been so adamant about not wanting a child for so long—finally realizing that it might be good for her to have a progeny to have someone as brilliant as she in the world when she leaves. So she is thinking about having a child, and she realizes that Booth is genetically an excellent match for her." (Hell yes he is.)

Another hint that this knot of storylines leads to a wee B&B Jr.? When asked about future appearances by Booth's beloved son Parker, Hart says, "Yes, we will see Parker. Of course, Booth's family life, including his son, fit into our consequences coming up in season five." (Tell us we're wrong about this babies thing!)

As for the actual sex, they haven't shot the scene yet, but we have solemn promises that it is not the product of Booth's currently fevered imagination.

In other Bones news:

* If the script and deal work out, says Hart, "Zack's (Eric Millegan) in the season finale."
* Angela (Michaela Conlin) and Jack (T.J. Thyne) are still in love limbo. Says Hart, "Our plans don't include any fast resolutions to their relationship."
* Those of us who don't love Bones' new Thursday time slot might have to suck it up. Says Stephen, "The network is very happy with us on Thursday night. From their point of view, we're doing very, very well." [Grumble: OKThursdaysfine...)

Last but not least, if you will permit us a geeky, inside-baseball digression: According to his bosses, David Boreanaz kicked ass at directing tonight's all-new episode of Bones. When we asked about it, they waxed positively rhapsodic:

Stephen Nathan: With no, no blowing of smoke, he is a wonderful director. Wonderful.
Hart Hanson: I have already hurt his feelings by going up and telling him at how shocked I was at how very good a director he was. You hope that when an actor directs that, when the ep comes in, it's a competent show. He did not just a competent job, he did an artistic show. I would recommend him to people for pilots. The guy is a director. Stephen and I tip our hats to him.
S.N.: He was incredibly prepared, very thoughtful. It was really so impressive to see. He had so much to juggle—he had a large role in the show—and he just pulled off every aspect of it...I was thrilled. Thrilled when I saw the show. It was our kid at a piano recital, and he hit all the right notes.

Awww, can you feel the love?

New York Post Article on Finale

" "The climax of the show this season will put people into such a spin," says Boreanaz of the much-ballyhooed love scene, "that [fans] will be like, 'What are you doing?!' - but in a good way; they'll really be surprised."

(For the record, both Brennan's sudden desire to have a kid and Booth's health crisis, "will play into the 'copulation scene,' " Boreanaz says with a smile.)

It's all part of giving the audience what they've been clamoring for, but "done in such a way that the audience wants more and may not get it," he says. "

The writer here really messed up, though, by calling Brennan a 'forensic pathologist' and saying that there are twelve new episodes airing starting tonight...

Ask Ausiello: March 26 Episode

Question: How about some Bones scoop? --Amy
Ausiello: The March 26 episode is a big one for Tamara Taylor's Cam, who discovers that her ex-boyfriend has been murdered. "This was the love of her life," explains exec producer Hart Hanson. "She lived with him for two years and raised his daughter. She now has to go back and tell the now-16-year-old daughter -- who doesn't remember her -- that her father is dead. It's a very emotional episode for us. And Tamara is brilliant in it."

Sorry, sorry! Just haven't had time to write it up yet, but to tide you over until we can get up the full post, the highlights are these: Producers are planning to bring Zack (Eric Millegan) back for the season finale—the script and deal aren't done, but plans are firmly in the works. The season-ending sex scene is not a hallucination. And season five will be all about the consequences of having sex, which just might mean Booth-Bones babies. Can you believe it?

Snippet from EW Mag on "Naked in Bed" Scene

Bones finale snippet from EW Magazine

BONES

"Booth (David Boreanaz) will experience a "major health crisis" in May that will cause him to hallucinate. What he won't imagine is being in bed naked with Brennan (Emily Deschanel) in the season finale. That really happens. What's more, "we can't have them in bed naked without having sex," says exec producer Stephen Nathan. Moreover, the postcoital fallout will be dealt with quickly. "There's going to be a resolution by the end of the episode."

Major Health Crisis for Booth

So what, is the nookie Bones is finally gonna let Booth and Brennan have in this season's finale just a lovely parting gift for David Boreanaz's character? Probably not, but it sounds like the wisecracking detective will stare death in the face later this season.

"He will be going through a major health crisis," reveals executive producer Stephen Nathan, "which will cause him to hallucinate."

Yikes. But whatever Booth's ultimate fate (the fact that he's the star of the show probably bodes well for him), at least viewers won't be imagining his sweet, sweet lovemaking with his partner. "The last episode [of the season] Booth and Brennan are in bed together," Nathan confirms. "And we can't have them in bed naked without having sex."

And the morning after? Will their be catastrophic Moonlighting-esque awkwardness? Thankfully, no. "That's all going to be resolved within that episode," Nathan promises, "because we also have to resolve the fact that Brennan wants to have a child."

So what do you think, folks? Does the words "health" and "crisis" in the same sentence as the name "Booth" strike terror into your hearts? Or do you figure this is just another way for Bones to rattle our... you know? Sound off below. (Additional reporting by Andy Patrick)

YES, We Like To Tease (Guest Rumor Blog)

The following is a Guest Blog written by Milky on some unsubstantiated rumors... but fun rumors. The previous post on this blog does, however, affirm partially one of these rumors. Thanks so much for Guest Blogging, Milky!
Cheers, FM

Yes, this is a blog centered on spoilers. Yes, this is a serious blog. ForensicMama doesn't go fooling around inventing spoilers just so she can post them: everything you see here is 100% real spoilers.

Except maybe for this post.

No, I'm not inventing what you're about to read. I'm going to let you know where I read it. But it's just so good news we had to share!

Rumour Spoiler #1: Goodman will be back this season.
That's all it said. That Goodman would be back. My guess is he'd be a guest star... but even a single ep with him back seems to me like a great idea!

Rumour Spoiler #2: Zack will be brought back in the finale, as a cliffhanger!!!!
Some of you might have read this in the chat at the bottom of the site. I don't know what it means, since that's all the spoiler said... again.

As you might have guessed, none of them are all that reliable. But wouldn't it be great if they were true?

Besides, it gets the mind working!

Both are in Spanish. You might have problems accessing link #2, since it's a member's only site.
I couldn't get more info on the spoilers, that's why they're just 'Rumour Spoilers'.
And thanks, Mama, for allowing me to write this Guest Post.

Zack in the Finale?

Milky had mentioned this to me earlier, but we didn't have any definitive proof. I wonder if Ausiello was talking to HH or if he saw the same post? Hmm...

Question: Will we be seeing Zach on Bones before the end of the season? --Ajay

Ausiello: There's a strong chance you'll see him in the season finale. (BTW, major Booth-Brennan scoop coming later today. Clear your mid-day schedule.)
