Other than what I told you in my post-mortem, no. But we have all summer to squeeze more specifics out of Stephen Nathan. Meanwhile, in addition to Pelant returning sometime in the first half of the season, he promises there will be another return early next year: Parker and Daisy! “We probably will see Parker come back probably in the first half of the season because he’s been gone quite a while,” Nathan dishes. “It’s been a fully packed season  so it’s been difficult to fit in all the characters we want to fit in.” He adds, jokingly: “There are parts of [the characters'] lives we don’t see. So booth is in regular contact with his son in the same way we never saw Jack Bauer charge his cell phone, it must have been charged at some point because it always worked.”

The season finale of Bones was a killer. Yes, there was the carnage we usually expect from any Bones episode that welcomes back psycho hacker Pelant (Andrew Leeds) but there was also emotional carnage.

In the middle of the episode, Brennan finally made the leap and proposed to Booth, only to have Booth retract his acceptance at the end of the episode after Pelant (the ultimate jealous girlfriend) forced him to do so. So Brennan was secretly heartbroken, Booth was forced to hurt the woman he cares about, and Pelant proves yet again that he’s the most dastardly villain we’ve ever seen....

Postmortem: Bones Boss on Brennan's "Wound" and What's Next for Her and Booth

[WARNING: The following story contains major spoilers from Bones Season 8 finale. Read at your own risk.]
So much for a happy ending.

Although Bones' Season 8 finale teased viewers by finally having Brennan (Emily Deschanel) ask Booth (David Boreanaz) to marry her, the smiles soon faded thanks to Christopher Pelant (guest star Andrew Leeds). While Booth & Co. were ultimately able to stop Pelant from taking out Sweets (John Francis Daley), the serial killer had the last laugh.

Once he learned of Booth and Brennan's engagement, Pelant threatened to kill more innocent people if Booth didn't call off the wedding. What's more, Booth couldn't let Brennan know the real reason behind his change of heart. Although Brennan agreed with Booth's decision, the closing shot proved that her heart has been broken.

So will Brennan revert to her hyper-rational ways of thinking? And is Booth's only way out of this mess to kill Pelant as he threatened to do? We chatted with executive producer Stephen Nathan to get the scoop on what's to come...

'Bones' star Emily Deschanel teases tonight's 'big' season finale

Bones wraps up its current season tonight with an episode that’s going to show fans just how bad computer hacker madman Christopher Pelant (Andrew Leeds) can be. And Emily Deschanel couldn’t be prouder of the fact that eight seasons in, the show can still keep the audience on its toes. “I feel like new life has been breathed into the show,” she says of this season. “It doesn’t feel like we’re winding down, it feels like we’re revving up.”

YOU'RE KILLING ME: Fox goes into serial-killer overdrive as its Monday crime dramas come to a violent close. Bones (8/7c) brings back the devious and elusive madman Christopher Pelant (Andrew Leeds) to torment the Jeffersonian brain trust, with Booth (David Boreanaz) the apparent target of his latest schemes. ... We're promised a final (for now, until next season) showdown between Svengali serial-killer Joe Carroll (James Purefoy) and the erstwhile Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) in the first-season finale of The Following (9/8c). I suppose we're meant to be worried about Agent Parker (Annie Parisse), last seen buried alive by Joe's minions. But she's such an aggravating nitwit — the feds didn't even screen the citizens crowding the evacuation center, setting up last week's inane massacre — that it's kind of hard to care. ... More murderous fun on A&E's Bates Motel (10/9c), where the family just put an end to Deputy Shelby's reign of terror, with a wild shootout in the infamous murder house. Now it's time to hang out the open-for-business sign at the motel, and we're told Norma (the sensational Vera Farmiga) is in for a surprise when she checks in their first guest. ... On a much higher plane of drama, Sundance's quietly riveting Rectify (10/9c) features the great Hal Holbrook as Daniel's first lawyer, recalling "the terror of the town back then" during the murder trial that put Daniel on death row nearly two decades ago. As for Daniel (Aden Young): "I might just lay low today," he says, spending much of the episode exploring the family home in a poignant daze, rekindling old memories (and music) as the family walks on eggshells and the town simmers in anger over his release. Not to be missed...
