Ausiello: The show will take a breather after No. 200 with a run of quieter, more traditional Bones
installments. “The 200th episode is a great big, black, sucking hole
that all the effort has gone into,” notes series creator Hart Hanson.
“So the show is somewhat smaller for at least three or four episodes. We
go back to our normal show after the 200th, for a while.”

Question: So, are we getting a Bones midseason finale à la the In Plain Sight Season 4 finale? You know, Mary, the very last scene, a long hiatus… —Amanda
Ausiello: If you’re asking me whether Brennan will go into labor in this season’s sixth episode (the last one before the break), the answer is no. Although exec producer Stephen Nathan says the episode serves to both “introduce the new serial killer and feature another event with Booth and Brennan,” said event is not pregnancy-related. David Boreanaz confirmed as much to me Sunday at the Emmys when he divulged that the episode will reveal where Booth and Brennan will be living. “It’s very funny,” he said. “It’s not your normal place.”
Ausiello: Billy Gibbons is back for an episode “to see his grandson,” confirms Nathan. “He comes in at a very difficult time for Hodgins and Angela: The baby doesn’t sleep, and they don’t want to keep the baby up any more than the baby already is up.”

ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons returns to rock his role on Bones'
As an actor, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top rocks.
So says Hart Hanson, executive producer of the Fox crime drama "Bones," and he should know: Hanson created a role for the iconic rocker to play four years ago and he keeps bringing him back.
Gibbons returns in the season finale at 8 p.m. EDT Thursday as the father of Angela, a member of the show's quirky crime-solving team. Angela, played by actress Michaela Conlin, is an artist and a free spirit. So it made sense back in Season 1, Hanson says, to give her a freewheeling rock-star dad.
"Billy is a good actor," the producer says. "When the camera is not going, he looks at Michaela, who is an incredibly beautiful woman, the way that a rock star would look at an incredibly beautiful woman. But then we yell 'action' and he has to be fatherly."
And he pulls it off every time.
