BONES Scoop: A New Romance, Who Will Be Popping Up in the Season Finale and More

BONES is back this week, but its return is just a tease — not only is the show temporarily borrowing its old Thursday at 8 PM time slot, but after the one (very important) hour it will then go off the air for the next few months. (An exact return date is still TBD.)

But it’s never too early to start teasing what to expect when the show comes back for its next batch of episodes, right? I caught up with BONES executive producers Stephen Nathan and Carla Kettner at Fox’s TCA party and grilled them on what viewers can expect in the second half of the season…

Now that BONES is back in production, care to share the name of Booth and Brennan’s baby? — Jane
The TV Addict: As much as we would absolutely love to reveal the name of Booth and Brennan’s baby. our love of staying on creator Hart Hanson’s good side wins the day yet again. Thus, in lieu of any actual information we hope you’ll forgive us for this highly ambiguous tease: Lifelong loyal BONES fan should already know the name of Booth and Brennan’s baby. And yes, now would be your cue to guess away in the comments below.

Mega Buzz: December 6

When is the baby going to be born on Bones? — Gina
ADAM:
It certainly won't be before the recently delayed "fall finale," but when the show returns in the spring, Booth and an about-to-pop Brennan will be touring maternity wards. In the same episode, since it's Bones, they'll also visit a prison, where they'll investigate an inmate's death. Can you guess which environment, cleanliness-wise, would be most conducive to childbirth? (Not so fast!)

SN Tweets: A Villain and a Treat

Stephen Nathan: Just finishing episode 6. Great ender for the first part of the season. A very creepy and evil villain. And a treat for B&B.

Tipster:

Ask Ausiello: October 18

Question: I have a Bones Q. Does Brennan really have an ultrasound where she finds out the gender of the baby by herself and without informing Booth until after the fact? How could she take that moment away from him? She knows what being a dad means to him. I swear the writers want me to hate Brennan. She does this? Seriously heartless. —Danni
Ausiello: Simmer yourself. It’s more complicated than that. Besides, it all leads to one of my favorite B&B moments ever — one that would not have been possible had Booth been on hand for the initial reveal.

Question: I’m counting down the days until Bones returns on Nov. 3. Anything you can give me to tide me over? —Lauryn
Ausiello: There’s a scene in Episode 6 (a.k.a. the midseason finale) that was so revolting even exec producer Stephen Nathan couldn’t stomach it. And it takes a lot to gross out that guy. As a result, it was cut from the episode. “It was the body of a victim that was murdered,” he explains. “There was one angle where it looked like something from a medical journal. Totally gross. Not like our entertainingly revolting remains. It just looked too real. But never fear, there is much to close your eyes and shriek about in the episode.”
