When extremely educated new intern Dr. Oliver Wells (guest star Brian Klugman) starts working at the Jeffersonian, his quick-learning, enthusiastic personality challenges Brennan as he gets under her skin with his eccentric but undeniable observations, causing her to try to be more open-minded about many scientific questions.

Question: Loved your Bones‘ teases last week. Care to explain one of them with more detail, either the alarm clock mystery or the Booth-Brennan marriage dilemma (I heard wedding bells when I read that), please? —Cassidy
Ausiello: I have no additional information on either one of those wonderfully cryptic teases. I do, however, have fresh intel on the upcoming episode that delves into Sweets’ past. According to John Francis Daley, in “The Fact in the Fiction” (airing Feb. 25), Sweets will finally reveal who inflicted the scars on his back (as first glimpsed in 2009′s “Mayhem on a Cross”). ”He helps this girl who is a victim of a date rape by telling her she’s not alone in having dealt with childhood trauma,” Daley previews. “It’s kind of an intense scene. Sweets doesn’t break down because he’s trying to comfort this girl, but I think she’s probably the first person he ever talked to about this situation.”

Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) investigate the death of a female roller derby skater whose body was dismembered, and enlist Angela (Michaela Conlin) to go undercover as a derby skater. Meanwhile, Cam (Tamara Taylor) tries to uncover the details behind Booth’s secretive hospital appointments.


Monday, Feb. 11
BONES (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) – “The Shot in the Dark”
When Brennan is shot while working late at the Jeffersonian lab, she is rushed to the hospital in critical condition. While there, she struggles with visions of her mother (guest star Brooke Langton) that defy her usual logic. Meanwhile, all evidence suggests that Brennan’s attacker may be linked to the Jeffersonian.


Monday, Feb. 18
BONES (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) – “The Friend in Need”
The Jeffersonian team investigates the remains of a 15-year-old boy. Although his mother and a few close friends saw him as intelligent with poor social skills, the team discovers that this seemingly innocent boy was actually involved in illegal activity and had attended a high school party two weeks prior where drugs were present.

The Bones episode that you and Michael were talking about on Spoiler Alert!, the one dealing with Sweets’ childhood, does it have a title yet? Also related to Sweets: Is Danielle Panabaker returning anytime soon? –Ed
I’ve got a two-for-one special for you, Ed: The aforementioned semi-Sweets episode, “The Fact in the Fiction,” is tentatively scheduled to air Feb. 25. But you’ll want to also tune in Feb. 11, when Panabaker reprises her role as FBI Special Agent Olivia Sparling. (That episode, “The Shot in the Dark,” is the one in which a gunned-down Brennan “reunites” with her mother.)
