Kathy Reichs, the forensic anthropologist-turned-crime novelist, remembers a time when the finer points of police forensics were a mystery to most people.
"My colleagues and I did our work in our labs, and nobody paid any attention to us," she says. "Now we're rock stars. We don't know why, but all of a sudden we became hot and sexy."
Actually, Reichs had something to do with it, along with Patricia Cornwell and TV's CSI.
Reichs is the author of a series of bestselling novels featuring forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan, books that inspired the hit crime drama Bones.
Flash and Bones (Scribner, $26.99), No. 14 in the series, is in bookstores Tuesday.
We chatted with Reichs about the book and the TV series.
